Beliefs

In order to create a school in which all students fulfill their learning potential, the staff of Myron D. Witter will implement policies and practices based on these beliefs:
A culture of success and high expectation are essential to helping students do well at school and later in life.
The school and homes must cultivate a culture of respect. All people regardless of ethnic group, age, or role, deserve respect.
The school should be a safe, positive, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Students must be instilled with a love of learning in order to gain a true sense of self worth and develop into life long learners.
Success in all endeavors is the result of hard work and motivation. Students are taught that effort does make a difference; as a result students are more inclined to work harder.
All students can be successful and master basic and advanced skills.
Literacy is the foundation of all learning.
We believe that all work has value and dignity.
Education is a partnership between school, family, and community. Family support is crucial to student learning.
Expectation of Positive Character Traits

Myron D. Witter believes that every individual is unique socially, emotionally, culturally and intellectually and must be respected and valued for her/his uniqueness. The staff values respect, honesty, trustworthiness, manners, compassion, perseverance, patience, personal and civic responsibility, tolerance, curiosity, and ethics. We further believe that it is the duty of both educators and parents to work together to help our students develop these positive character traits.
Our Goals

Are to increase literacy skills of all students, to nurture students both academically and socially, to continue to build a positive school climate, to increase parent and community participation, support, and involvement in the school.
Parents and other interested community members are encouraged to visit our school. We ask that you identify yourself and state the nature of your visit at the front office prior to visiting a classroom. We appreciate the time and talents parents have contributed to our school. If a parent is interested in volunteering, he/she must contact our Resource Teacher or our Principal.
The entire staff here at Myron D. Witter will be here to lend guidance, answer questions and provide assistance whenever the need arises. We wish parents and students a successful and enjoyable year.
